Take it from the horse’s mouth: your equine career starts here.

In the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree program in equine science & management, you can take your love of all things equine to the next level.

You’ll choose from two concentrations: a career in equine science, or a general concentration that allows you to customize your coursework to prepare for additional academic study or transfer to areas such as nutrition, reproduction and physiology.

Through the program’s rich curriculum, you’ll focus on the development of equine industry skills including the care and training of horses, riding, driving, breeding, and business and stable management. Some of our core courses include equine anatomy and physiology, equine stable and management, equine nutrition, fitting and marketing of the equine, equine reproduction and breeding management, and equine health and lameness.

You will get to work one-on-one with a selection of nearly 100 horses on site, and also experience some of the finest equine facilities in the country.

Our equine facilities include the SUNY Morrisville Equine Breeding and Training Center, which serves as a breeding and hunter/jumper facility, as well as the Equine Center, which features the nation’s only half-mile harness racing track on a college campus.

Additionally, the state-of-the-art SUNY Morrisville Equine Rehabilitation Center (ERC) showcases the college’s signature equine facilities. One of few publicly accessible equine rehabilitation facilities in the Northeast, the ERC offers equipment and rehabilitation techniques to keep healthy horses conditioned, and to help injured equine athletes recover post-injury or post-surgery.

Outside of your coursework, you'll also have the opportunity to compete on our Western Equestrian and our Hunt Seat Equestrian teams.

Like many students in this program, you may continue your studies in SUNY Morrisville’s Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree program in equine science.
