MORRISVILLE, NY —Deng Kiir was 10 years old when he fled the violence of his country. He walked two months from Sudan to Ethiopia in hopes of a better life.

Today, Kiir, one of the Lost Boys of Sudan who were forced to flee their homes and families, shared one of the greatest journeys in his life—graduating from college.

Kiir was among students who graduated during Morrisville State College’s 102nd commencement exercises held today. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

“I never expected this, ever” said Kiir with a beaming smile. “With all that I have seen in my life; it wasn’t about going to school. It was about surviving.”

Morrisville State to offer basketball and all-sports camps

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletics department will be offering a week-long Mustang Basketball Camp and All-Sports Camp this summer, on the Morrisville State campus.

From July 8 – 12, Morrisville State will be hosting a Mustang Basketball Camp that will place emphasis on basic basketball skills and fundamentals on a daily basis.

Morrisville State women advance to ECAC Mid-Atlantic Lacrosse semis

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Third seed Morrisville State College women’s lacrosse posted a 20-14 victory over sixth seed Medaille College to advance to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic Championship Tournament semi-final round Wednesday afternoon on Drake Field in Morrisville.
