Pedersen, Townsley named Mustang Athletes of the Week

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletic department has named Teal Pedersen (Manorville, NY) and Austin Townsley (Horseheads, NY) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 24.

In her first intercollegiate show, freshman hunt seat rider, Pedersen, posted two first place finishes over the weekend at the Skidmore IHSA show, leading Morrisville State to reserve champion team honors. She posted blue ribbon finishes in the intermediate equitation over fences and intermediate equitation on the flat classes and earned high point rider honors for the show.

Townsley, sophomore runner on the men’s cross country team, finished the 8k Heron Invitational in second place out of 30 runners with a time of 28:28, a 5:43 per mile pace, to lead the Mustangs. He has posted three top 10 finishes to date for the men.

The graduate of Horseheads High is majoring in information technology/networking at Morrisville State. He is the son of Mary and Fran Sherwood of Horseheads.

Morrisville State College offers more than 80 bachelor and associate degrees and options. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine.

The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus offers associate degree programs in accounting, business, computer systems technology, office administration, liberal arts transfer, nursing, early childhood, criminal justice and human services to south central New York residents and employers. Students may also apply coursework to other associate or bachelor degrees at the main campus.
