Oswego gets 24-15 win on mats at Morrisville

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Visiting Oswego State won six of 10 matches Wednesday night at Morrisville State College, picking up the 24-15 dual win in Morrisville.

Michael Gentilcore (Rochester, NY) posted a major decision victory at 125 pounds, defeating Morrisville State’s Justin Delamothe (Cross River, NY) 10-0 to give Oswego the early 4-0 match lead.

After an Omar Santiago (Huntington, NY) forfeit victory at 133 pounds, Scott McGregor (Tonawanda, NY) tallied a 5-0 decision over Peyton Amato (Theresa, NY) at 141 and Chris Payne (Farmington, NY) collected a technical fall over Goodson Phillipe (Brentwood, NY) by a 17-1 score at 149 pounds to give Oswego the 18-0 advantage.

At 157, Morrisville’s Antonio Hernandez (Binghamton, NY) led 2-1 until Nick Massaro (Ausable Forks, NY) recorded a reverse and then escape to take the lead, en route to the 7-2 bout decision in favor of the Lakers.

Morrisville’s first win of the night came in the 165 pound weight class, as Nate Cross (Hudson Falls, NY) recorded a takedown in the 2-1 decision over Marc Collins (Farmington, NY).

Oswego’s Dan Sutherland (North Bellmore, NY) posed a major decision over Jeremy Hoyte (Hempstead, NY) at 174 pounds, before Morrisville State closed out the night with three straight victories including a 6-4 come-from-behind decision by Wheeler Brunschmid (Sherburne, NY) at 184 pounds over Kevin Shirley (Lacona, NY).

Joseph Rodriguez (Port Chester, NY) recorded the forfeit win at 197 pounds, and Todd Hall (Athens, PA) edged Joe Pesce (Port Jervis, NY) 5-2 for the victory at the 285 weight class.

Morrisville State returns to the mats Saturday at the Messiah duals.
