Howland, Macera named Mustang Athletes of the Week

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletic department has named western rider, Catherine Howland (Rutlandtown, VT) and men’s lacrosse attack, Brandon Macera (Chittenango, NY) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 6.

Howland was crowned the champion in both the reining and open western horsemanship classes at the IHSA Western Championship Regionals, and completed the year as the high point rider for the region. She advances directly to the national competition in Lexington, Kentucky in May for the high point rider competition and to the semi-finals for individual competition.

Howland is majoring in equine science at Morrisville.

Macera was instrumental to the men’s season opening victory over Oswego on Saturday. In the win, Macera notched a score in the third quarter and assisted three others while picking a ground ball.

The junior is a criminal justice (BT) major at Morrisville State and is the son of Marisa and Mark Macera of Chittenango, NY).
