Matheson signs with CHL’s Texas Brahmas

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Morrisville State College senior defenseman, Derek Matheson (Durham, ONT) signed a professional playing contract Wednesday afternoon with the Texas Brahmas in the Central Hockey League.

Texas is currently ranked second in the CHL’s Berry Conference, and have clinched a play-off berth.

Matheson appeared in 95 games for the Mustangs at defense, completing his collegiate career with 10 goals and 24 assists (34 points). Six goals were power play scores and one was a game winner.

In May 2009, Matheson earned his associate’s degree in business administration and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration at Morrisville State. He is the son of Brenda and Ed Matheson of Dunham, Ontario.
