Morrisville State field hockey falls 5-2 to St. Lawrence

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Host St. Lawrence University tallied four first half scores en route to the 5-2 non-conference victory over visiting Morrisville State College Wednesday evening in Canton.

St. Lawrence struck early, putting the first score in the net just four minutes in before Morrisville State answered with a Rebecca Meyer (Morrisville, NY) score from Jamie Anderson (Harpursville, NY) on a penalty corner opportunity at the 11 minute mark.

Paige Jerrett (Parish, NY) put the Mustangs ahead by one eight minutes later as Sarah Angerer (Cooperstown, NY) centered the pass for the scoring deflection in front of net.

Two straight turnovers at the top of the circle provided St. Lawrence with two straight scoring tallies, who claimed the 4-2 advantage at the break.

St. Lawrence put the game away with a final tally in the final five minutes of the contest.

Laura Blumenfeld (Rockland, NY) recorded the loss in net, posting 11 saves as the Mustangs fell to 0-3 on the season.
