Four earn NEAC Player of the Week honors at Morrisville State

Beresovoy, Hartnett, Edmondson, and D'Ercole receive honors
MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) office announced its player of the week selections for the week ending March 4, naming four from Morrisville State its players of the week in the sports of men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse and softball.

Jeremy Beresovoy (Lafayette, N.Y.) earned NEAC Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week honors following a pair of team leading performances to open the season. The freshman attacker registered seven goals in a 1-1 week for the Mustangs, including a team high four goals in the 10-8 victory over Brockport. He added three additional scores in the 15-7 setback to Oswego on Saturday.

The graduate of Lafayette High is majoring in individual studies at Morrisville State. He is the son of Robyn and Paul Beresovoy of Lafayette.

Senior midfielder Hillary Hartnett (Fairport, N.Y.) was named the NEAC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week following a team-high four goal performance in a 13-8 loss to Elmira on Saturday. In the contest, Hartnett was a perfect 3-for-3 in free position opportunities, while also registering two ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers.

The graduate of Fairport High is majoring in equine science at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Eileen and Robert Hartnett of Fairport.

Cassie Edmondson (Oshawa, Ont.) was selected as the NEAC Women’s Defensive Player of the Week, collecting three ground balls and causing two turnovers in the contest against Elmira. She picked up right where she left off a year ago, as the sophomore defender finished her initial collegiate campaign second on the team in caused turnovers and fourth in ground balls.

The graduate of Eastdale CVI is majoring in sports, nutrition and fitness management at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Stacey and Chris Edmondson of Oshawa, Ontario.

Sophomore Jenna D’Ercole (Highland, N.Y.) was selected as the NEAC Softball Pitcher of the Week following a handful of spectacular outings on the mound for the Mustangs. She posted three wins in three starts and appeared in four games as Morrisville State opened the season with a 3-1 record. In her four appearances, she gave up just 10 runs (five earned) on 26 hits, while collecting 171 strikeouts and posting a 1.75 ERA in 20 innings pitched. D’Ercole also recorded one put out and assisted on four others while out on the field.

The graduate of Highland High is majoring in nursing at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Silvia and Mark D’Ercole of Highland.
