Plattsburgh State men’s lacrosse soars over Morrisville, 10-4

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men’s lacrosse team fell to visiting Plattsburgh State Cardinals Saturday afternoon, by a final score of 10-4.

The Mustangs are now 2-3 while the Cardinals improve to 6-2.

Dean Priest (Hinesburg, VT), Jeremy Beresovoy (Jamesville, NY), Devin Maxwell (Culver City, Cal) and David Middlemore (Baldwinsville, NY) all scored goals for the Mustangs. Mike Kellogg (Pawling, NY) grabbed four ground balls while Middlemore, Jack Martocello (Miller Place, NY) and Michael Hinchey (Lake Katrine, NY) all had three. Hinchey recorded the loss between the pipes with 17 saves.

Tim Lawrence and James Reed both had three goals for the Cardinals while Nick Travers added two along with four assists. Reed and Brett McClelland both grabbed six ground balls for the team. Gordie Gehring had six saves in 57 minutes of play while Chris Guzzetta had one save in the final 3 minutes.

Plattsburgh outscored Morrisville 6-2 in the first period scoring five unanswered goals in eight minutes. The Cardinals edged Morrisville in shots throughout the game 44-26 while also grabbing 37 ground balls to the Mustangs 25.

The Mustangs return to the field Wednesday March 28 at Vassar College at 7 p.m.
