Morrisville State men's soccer raise $2,462 for IACKids

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men’s soccer program together with the campus and community, raised more than $2,400 for the Italian American Coalition for Kids (IACK), a not-for-profit organization that assists families in need in the Upstate New York region.

Every day, families are faced with serious hardships due to a child’s serious illness, extended hospital stay or other unfortunate circumstance. Morrisville State teamed up with IACKids in an effort to raise funds and awareness for families who encounter financial hardship due to the illness of their young children, and made it their goal, along with IACKids, to empower the community to give back to those families in need, in an effort to make a positive impact in their lives during trying times.

“We’d like to thank Morrisville State College, the athletics department, the men’s soccer program, along with the members of the campus and community who came together to assist our organization,” stated IACK co-founder Loreto Barbone. “We appreciate the efforts put forth in creating additional awareness and donations for our organization, which will be used to assist Upstate New York families in need at Galisano Children’s Hospital.”

Proceeds from gate receipts, the online jersey auction, general donations, along with prize raffles, totaled $2,462 for IACKids. During the contest, Morrisville State sported commemorative IACKids jerseys, which assisted in raising funds for the organization through an online auction.

As part of a continuing community service program within the athletic department, student-athletes are involved in a variety of service programs, benefiting both the campus and surrounding communities.

Last year the Mustangs were involved in more than 20 community service programs in the local and surrounding communities, logging over 1,200 hours of service, and raised more than $9,000 for charitable organizations.
