Morrisville State College Gears Up For Mustang Weekend

MORRISVILLE, N.Y.-–Morrisville State College is preparing for a weekend of fun in celebration of Mustang Weekend Sept. 29 and 30. Events include campus tours, a floral design contest, massages by students in the college’s massage therapy program, a campus carnival, parade and fireworks.

A fishing derby at the Helyar Pond on South Street Sept. 29 will kickoff Mustang Weekend. The derby, hosted by the college’s Fish and Wildlife Society, will be held from 1-5 p.m. A New York state fishing license is not required. The entry fee is $3 per person.

The Mustang Weekend celebration is open to Morrisville State College students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni and emeriti as well as members of the community.

Other activities scheduled for Sept. 29 include: A family dinner at 4:45 p.m. in Seneca Dining Hall; Casino Night in Brooks Hall from 7-11 p.m., hosted by the Casino Management Organization (CSO); and live entertainment at the Morrisville State College-run restaurant, The Copper Turret, at 9 p.m. The Copper Turret is located on West Main Street in the village of Morrisville.

Highlights from events on Sept. 30 include: The annual Madison Hall 5K walk/run at 9 a.m.; alumni lacrosse game at 10 a.m.; horticulture open house and floral design contest from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Spader Horticulture Building; massages by students in the massage therapy program from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the front entrance to Seneca Dining Hall; parade at 11 a.m.; family brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; craft fair from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Student Activities Building; alumni luncheon from noon to 2 p.m.; men’s Mustang soccer vs. Wells College at noon; automotive technology open house and cruise-in (car show) at the Automotive Technology Building from noon to 4 p.m.; Mustang football vs. SUNY Maritime College at 1 p.m.; tours of the new apartment-style residence hall, Morrisville Commons, from 2 to 3 p.m.; community/campus carnival from 3 to 7 p.m. in the academic quad; the first sports, nutrition and fitness management alumni softball game at 4 p.m.; complimentary community/campus picnic from 5 to 7 p.m. in the academic quad; family entertainer, Regi Carpenter, at 6:15 p.m. in the theater; ice cream social, featuring the college’s own ice cream, 7 to 8 p.m., in the administrative quad; fireworks over Drake Field at 8 p.m.; drive-in movie: Double Feature on Drake Field, at 8:30 p.m.
