Chris Perkins named women's soccer coach, director of intramural activities at MSC

MORRISVILLE, N.Y.– Morrisville State College Athletic Director, Greg Carroll, recently announced the addition of Christopher Perkins to the athletic department staff as head coach of the women’s soccer program and director of intramural activities.

A 1990 graduate of SUNY Cortland with a degree in physical education, Perkins spent two seasons as the assistant women’s soccer coach at SUNY Cortland, advancing to the NCAA Regionals and claiming an NCAA National Title in 1992.

In 1992, he joined the staff at Wells College as the head women’s soccer coach and intramural/recreation director and has held several positions within the athletic department at Wells, including a stint as the head women’s lacrosse coach from 1993 until 2004.

In 2004, Perkins was promoted to the facility manager of Schwartz Center and Director of Physical Education at Wells College. In 2006, he was promoted to the Director of the New Schwartz Fitness Center.

In his time at Wells, Perkins has been named the Atlantic Women’s Colleges Conference (AWCC) Coach of the Year three times (1996, 2000, 2006) and were the AWCC Champions in 1996.

He has led his team to five AWCC championship game appearances since 1995 and 52 have earned all-AWCC team selections. Aside from the playing field, Perkins has coached 32 AWCC Scholar-Athletes and two AWCC Most Outstanding Scholar-Athletes in his tenure at Wells.

Since 1999, Perkins has remained active in the club circuit, coaching with the Crown City Futbol Club, an under 15 premier team, as well as conducting several camps and clinics for several youth soccer associations and local high school teams. Perkins is currently active in the NSCAA and is a level eight rated official.
