Ben Delia named head swim coach, director of aquatics activities at Morrisville State

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Morrisville State College Athletic Director, Greg Carroll, recently announced the addition of Benjamin Delia to the athletic department staff as head coach of the men’s and women’s swimming program and director of aquatic activities.

A 2005 graduate of Hamilton College with a degree in economics, Delia was a four-year member of the Continentals swim team where he was a NESCAC all-Conference team and championship finalist.

Since 1988, Delia was a member of the Oswego Laker Swim Club and YMCA swim team where he was a US Open qualifier, USA sectionals competitor and YMCA national competitor.

In 2005 Delia founded TRI2 Coaching to guide triathlon athletes by creating personalized training plans to fit their individual needs and goals. To date he has served as the head coach of TRI2 Coaching, coaching athletes to age group wins, national championship qualification and several course records.

In August of 2006, Delia was named the assistant swimming and diving coach at Trinity College and acted as the meet director for home meets at the Natatorium. While at Trinity, he guided the men’s and women’s swim team to multiple school, freshmen and pool records while assisting to produce four USA sectional qualifiers. In the fall of 2006 the men’s and women’s teams earned CSCAA Academic All-American honors.

Delia has several certifications, including USA Swimming Level I, ASCA Level II Certified, USA Triathlon Level I Coach, USA Cycling Level III Coach and is a NSPF Certified Pool Operator.

Since 2006, Delia has remained active with several camps and clinics for youth swimming associations and local swim teams.

Morrisville State College offers more than 70 bachelor and associate degrees. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine. The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus also offers programs in business, technologies, liberal arts/education transfer, and nursing to Chenango County area residents and employers.
