Morrisville State's Whitfield named to all-Tournament team

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Morrisville State College freshman middle hitter, Ebony Whitfield (Benton Harbor, MI/Benton Harbor), was recently named to the SUNY New Paltz Hawk all-Tournament volleyball team.

Whitfield tallied 49 kills, two service aces and 14 blocks in four games over the course of the tournament, including two team wins against Kean and Elmira College improving the team’s record to 6-7.

She is currently ranked second in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) in hitting percentage at .369 and fourth in kills with 40.

Whitfield was named to the Nickel City all-Tournament team earlier in the season at D’Youville College. She is the daughter of Cathy Dudley and Larry Cohn of Benton Harbor, Michigan and is majoring in accounting while at Morrisville State.

Morrisville State enters its second year as a provisional member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III in 2007. Upon successful completion of the provisional period, Morrisville State will be a candidate for full accreditation as a member of the NCAA.

Morrisville State College offers more than 70 bachelor and associate degrees. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine. The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus also offers programs in business, technologies, liberal arts/education transfer, and nursing to Chenango County area residents and employers.
