Morrisville State's Mason named ECAC Soccer Player of the Week

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Morrisville State College men’s soccer forward, Shaman Mason (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham), has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Soccer Player of the Week for Division III, Upstate sector, for week two.

Mason scored six times during the week, including both game-winners over Hilbert College and SUNY Potsdam. In the 6-3 win over Hilbert, he tallied four goals and an assist. Later in the week Mason then scored both of the team’s goals in a 2-1 win over Potsdam. Morrisville State is currently 4-1 in the season, 1-0 in SUNYAC play.

Mason currently leads the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) in points scored with nine goals and three assists. He is averaging 4.20 points per game.

He is a freshman automotive technology major at Morrisville.

Morrisville State enters its second year as a provisional member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III in 2007. Upon successful completion of the provisional period, Morrisville State will be a candidate for full accreditation as a member of the NCAA.

Morrisville State College offers more than 70 bachelor and associate degrees. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine. The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus also offers programs in business, technologies, liberal arts/education transfer, and nursing to Chenango County area residents and employers.
