Ketchum scores hat trick to lead Morrisville over Albany Pharmacy

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Junior midfielder, Andrew Ketchum (Chili, NY/Churchville-Chili) scored a hat trick to lead the Morrisville State College men’s soccer team over visiting Albany College of Pharmacy 5-1 Wednesday afternoon in Morrisville.

Ketchum gave Morrisville the early 1-0 lead at the 4:22 mark connecting with Shaman Mason (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham) on a pass from the top of the box for the score before adding a second score at 18:37 off an assist from Matt Green (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia).

Mason extended the Mustang lead to 3-0, netting an unassisted score at 22:54 before connecting with teammate John Jones (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam) just over a minute later, giving the Mustangs the commanding four goal lead.

Ketchum added his third score at 68:17 to put the contest away for the Mustangs.

Marc Iannanccone scored the lone goal for Albany Pharmacy, connecting with Brett Ouimet on a corner kick opportunity at 79:24.

Morrisville State goalkeeper, Paolo Sardella (Keene, NY/Keene Central) recorded the win in net for the Mustangs, saving one, as they improve to 5-4 overall on the season. Anthony Woods (North Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) tallied one save in the second half.

Morrisville State returns to the field on Friday against SUNY Fredonia. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Lemery Field in Morrisville.

Morrisville State enters its second year as a provisional member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III in 2007. Upon successful completion of the provisional period, Morrisville State will be a candidate for full accreditation as a member of the NCAA.

Morrisville State College offers more than 70 bachelor and associate degrees. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine. The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus also offers programs in business, technologies, liberal arts/education transfer, and nursing to Chenango County area residents and employers.
