Morrisville State field hockey ends season with shut out win over Wells

AURORA, N.Y. – Sophomore Charlotte Brown (Sherburne, NY/Sherburne-Earlville) scored twice to lead the Morrisville State College field hockey team to a 2-0 non-conference win Tuesday afternoon over Wells College in Aurora.

Morrisville State took the one goal lead at the 16:24 mark, as Brown collected the ball off a rebounded save from Wells College keeper Beth Cereo. Cereo tallied 22 saves in the loss for the Express.

At 69:49, Brown extended the Mustangs lead to two, netting her second off an assist from Lauren Bordonaro (North Tonawanda, NY/Starpoint).

Morrisville State goalie Stephanie Smith (Cedarville, NY/Mount Markham) recorded five saves and the shut out win, her second of the season.

Morrisville State concludes the 2007 campaign with a 4-14 overall record, 0-6 in SUNYAC play.

Morrisville State enters its second year as a provisional member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III in 2007. Upon successful completion of the provisional period, Morrisville State will be a candidate for full accreditation as a member of the NCAA.

Morrisville State College offers more than 70 bachelor and associate degrees. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine. The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus also offers programs in business, technologies, liberal arts/education transfer, and nursing to Chenango County area residents and employers.
