Fredonia edges Morrisville hockey 3-2 on senior night

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - The Morrisville State College men’s ice hockey team fell to visiting Fredonia State 3-2 Saturday night in Morrisville.

Neal Sheenhan (Avon Lake, OH) netted his first of two goals on the night for the Blue Devils on a power play off a pass from Colin Sarfeh (Laguna Nigual, CA and Matt McKeown (Niagara Falls, ONT). 

Dana Calderone (Bronx, NY) tied the game minutes later off a pass from Tim Dorak (Honeoye, NY) and Brett Freese (Geneseo, NY). Matt Damskov (Spokane, WA) scored two minutes later off a cross ice pass from Joe Herman (Congers, NY) and Bobby Cass (Burlington, ONT) to give the Mustangs the 2-1 lead.

Less than three minutes later Alex Morton (Cannington, ONT) scored off a pass from Steve Rizer (Smithtown, NY) and Andrew Dissanayake (Ajak, ONT). McKeown recorded his second assist on the night to set-up the game winning goal to Sheenhan that beat Freese stick side mid-way through the third period.

Kevin Amborski (Bloomfield, NY) recorded the win in goal for the Blue Devils saving 21 shots. Fredonia State improves to 9-5-3 overall and 5-2-2 in SUNYAC competition.

Brett Freese (Geneseo, NY) recorded the loss for the Mustangs in net tallying a career high 47 saves and tallying an assist on the night for the Mustangs. Morrisville State falls to 4-17-0 overall and 0-13-0 in SUNYAC competition.
