Fourteen Morrisville State student-athletes named to SUNYAC All Academic Team

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Fourteen Morrisville State College student-athletes were recently named to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) All Academic Team and Commissioners List.

To be named to the Commissioner’s List, the varsity athlete needs to have completed the entire season with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.3 based on three semesters of coursework at the institution. SUNYAC All Academic Team members must have earned a 3.3 GPA for the semester in which they competed during the sport season.

Volleyball’s Christina Fenaroli (Monroe, CT) and football’s Michael LaCroce (Oxford, NY), Alex Parsons (Pittsford, NY) and Rich Roberts (Morrisville, NY) were named to the Commissioner’s List and the All Academic Team.

The following student-athletes were named to the All Academic Team: men’s soccer student-athletes Tim Benedict (Caledonia, NY), Marcus Figaro (Rosedale, NY) and Ryan Christie (Milford, DE); volleyball’s Jessica Cassel (New Hampton, NY), Madison Cassidy (Nunda, NY), Nicole Leaf (Glens Falls, NY) and Nicole Wright (Dryden, NY); women’s soccer Elizabeth Fish (West Winfield, NY) and Janae O’Brien (Woodstock, IL); and field hockey’s Chelsea Thomas (Schuylerville, NY).

Morrisville State is in its second year as a provisional member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III in 2007. Upon successful completion of the provisional period, Morrisville State will be a candidate for full accreditation as a member of the NCAA.

Morrisville State College offers more than 70 bachelor and associate degrees. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine. The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus also offers programs in business, technologies, liberal arts/education transfer, and nursing to Chenango County area residents and employers.
