Potsdam hands Morrisville State women's lacrosse first loss of season

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - The visiting Potsdam State Bears handed Morrisville State women’s lacrosse their first loss of the season, picking up the 19-12 win Tuesday night in Chittenango.

Morrisville State trailed 7-4 at the half before Potsdam netted six goals within the first ten minutes of the second to take a commanding 13-5 lead.

The Mustangs closed the gap in the closing minutes, but fell short on time as the clock expired and Potsdam picked up the SUNYAC win.

Kayla Miller (Johnstown, NY) led Morrisville State with four goals and an assist as teammate Sybil Stanton (Walton, NY) added three scores.

Molly Lehman-Lewis led Potsdam with five goals and two assists as Alisha Schaad added four scores and one assist to the Bears tallies.

Morrisville State goalkeeper, Stephanie Smith (Cedarville, NY) recorded the loss in net, saving 19, as the Mustangs fall to 2-1 over, 0-1 in SUNYAC competition.

Potsdam’s Lindsay Myers earned the win, saving five, as Potsdam improves to 4-2 overall, 1-0 in SUNYAC play.
The Mustangs return to the field on Saturday against Oswego State. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Morrisville.
