Morrisville State concludes SUNYAC schedule with split against Fredonia

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - The Morrisville State College women’s softball team concluded the 2008 SUNYAC schedule with a split against visiting Fredonia State Blue Devils on Sunday afternoon in Morrisville.

In the first game of the afternoon, Fredonia jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first inning and recorded two additional runs in each the second and third inning to take a commanding 9-0 lead after the third.

Maria Siderakis led the Blue Devils from the plate, hitting 2-of-2 while reocrding two RBI’s and two runs, including a double.

Defensively, Fredonia held Morrisville State to just three hits in the game, with Cristina Reale picking up the win on the mound, striking out four in 18 at-bats.

Morrisville State was led by Nicole Palmer (Fairfax, VA), Jill Pedulla (Peru, NY) and Amanda Cikowski (Homer Center, PA) who each went 1-for-2 from the plate.

Gretchen Cramer (Grand Ledge, MI) recorded the loss, allowing 15 hits in five innints, striking out one.
In the second game, Morrisville State tallied four runs in the bottom of the first inning and held off Fredonia’s rally in the fourth to take the win by a final, 4-3.

Cikowski led the Mustangs hitting 2-of-3 from the plate, recording an RBI and run.

Kim Acker (Blue Point, NY) picked up the win, allowing seven hits and three runs, whle striking out two in 31 at bats.
Morrisville State improves to 6-29 overall and 2-20 in SUNYAC play.
