Morrisville State College Will Offer Green Entrepreneurship Seminar

MORRISVILLE, N.Y.— Local high school juniors and seniors will have the opportunity to benefit from Morrisville State College’s leadership in the areas of sustainable energy and entrepreneurship this summer. The college will offer a weeklong seminar on Green Entrepreneurship Aug. 4-8 on campus.

This short course, taught by Morrisville State College faculty members, is an introduction to green entrepreneurship. Students will learn the latest trends in the growing green market such as underwater turbines, wave, solar, wind, hydroelectric and biomass power, eco-friendly clothing, green cars, as well as new “green” opportunities in more conventional ventures including dairy farming, aquaculture, horticulture and waste management.

The seminar will feature tours of local facilities, including Morrisville State College’s dairyaquaculture and horticulture facilities, Critz Farms in Cazenovia and the Fenner Wind Farm.

In addition, students will explore the steps necessary for creating a start-up venture in these emerging environmental fields through fast-paced, hands-on activities that highlight creativity and innovation, team building techniques, research techniques and presentation skills.

Space is limited to 24 students and the course will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is $75 and scholarships due to financial hardship are available.

For more information, contact the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources at 315-684-6083 or via email at parkhusm@morrisville.edu or fitzpaqm@morrisville.edu.
