Morrisville State College to host girls basketball summer camp

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Morrisville State College will host a girls basketball camp for girls entering grades 7th – 12th in the fall.

The camp will run Sunday, July 26 through Friday, July 31 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. for resident campers and 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. for commuting campers in the Student Activities Center Gymnasium on the Morrisville State campus.

Instruction will include, but is not limited to the following skills: ball handling, passing, rebounding, defense, fast break situations, shooting, as well as team and situation scrimmages. Daily skills will be applied to the following scenarios: foul shooting, spot shooting, 3 v 2, 3 v 3 and 1 v 1 situations.

The deadline for camp registration and deposit ($100) is Monday, July 13. Total cost for the camp is $350 for residents ($250 commuters) which includes the cost of meals, housing (for resident campers only), a camp t-shirt, and team and individual competition awards. A $25 discount will be offered to groups of five or more who submit their registrations together.

Morrisville State enters its third year as a provisional member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III in 2008. Upon successful completion of the provisional period, Morrisville State will be a candidate for full accreditation as a member of the NCAA.

Morrisville State College offers more than 75 bachelor and associate degrees and options. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus offers associate degree programs in accounting, business, computer systems technology, office administration, liberal arts transfer, nursing, early childhood, criminal justice and human services to south central New York residents and employers. Students may also apply coursework to other associate or bachelor degrees at the main campus.
