CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – Three different players scored a goal for the Cazenovia College women’s soccer team in their 3-0 shutout victory over North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponent Morrisville State Wednesday afternoon.

The Wildcats outshot the Mustangs 22-3 on their way to improving to 3-12 overall and 3-5 in conference play. Morrisville fell to 2-11 overall and 1-7 in the league with the loss.

Cazenovia jumped out to a 1-0 lead just six minutes into the contest on a header from freshman Sonni Pank (Sprakers, NY/Canajoharie) that was setup by a left cross by senior Michelle Duffy (Troy, PA/Troy). In the 21st minute, junior Ellie Argentieri (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) used a long assist to find freshman Alicia Priest (Warners, NY/West Genesee) in front of the goal for her first score of the season to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead at the half.

Just under nine minutes into the second half Cazenovia struck again. Freshman Megan McDermott (Greene, NY/Greene) netted her team-leading fourth goal of the season off an assist from Priest in what was the last goal of the game.

Junior Brittany Westcott (Oneonta, NY/Charlotte Valley) played 90 minutes in goal for Cazenovia and had a relatively uneventful day, recording only one save in the shutout.

Morrisville’s Cheyanna Waters (Woodhull, NY) allowed three goals and registered eight saves in 90 minute for the Mustangs.

Cazenovia is at The College of St. Elizabeth (N.J.) on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Morrisville steps out of conference and goes on the road to face Potsdam State at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
