Morrisville State women's hoops nets first win of season

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College women’s basketball team earned their first win of the season, handing the College of New Rochelle a 59-22 defeat in New York Tuesday night.

Morrisville State senior Tekesha Hanson (Queens, NY), led all scorers with 17 points while adding six rebounds and six steals, as freshman Irena Longworth (Galway, NY) chipped in a collegiate best 13 point, six rebounds and five steal performance.

Freshman Dyana Williams (Buffalo, NY) netted 10 for Morrisville while grabbing a team high nine rebounds, adding seven steals to the Mustang tallies.

Morrisville State raced out to a 27-point lead at the half, holding the commanding 36-9 lead at the break. Additional statistics were unavailable at press time.

Morrisville State (1-4) returns to the court Thursday at the Albany College of Pharmacy, before opening conference play with the College of St. Elizabeth on Sunday.

Morrisville State College offers more than 80 bachelor and associate degrees and options. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine.

The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus offers associate degree programs in accounting, business, computer systems technology, office administration, liberal arts transfer, nursing, early childhood, criminal justice and human services to south central New York residents and employers. Students may also apply coursework to other associate or bachelor degrees at the main campus.
