Kulas, Gordon named Morrisville State "Co-Athletes of the Week"

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletic department has named men’s ice hockey junior forward Nick Kulas (Parma, MI) and men’s basketball sophomore guard Kyle Gordon (Riverhead, NY) the Mustang “Co-Athletes of the Week” for the week ending January 17, 2010.

Kulas tallied four points in two games for the Mustangs, assisting Morrisville State to a 1-1 week, including an upset victory over 2009 National Champion Neumann University.

In Friday’s victory over Neumann, Kulas tallied an assist and scored the game winner to give the Mustangs the 3-2 win. On Saturday, he followed with a goal and assist in the 7-4 loss to the Knights.
The graduate of Gross Pointe North High School, Kulas is majoring in sports nutrition and fitness management at Morrisville State. He is the son of Angie and Ron Cochran of Parma, Michigan.
Gordon led the men’s basketball team to a 2-0 week, posting wins over conference opponents SUNY Cobleskill and Cazenovia College.

In the comeback win over Cobleskill, Gordon tallied a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, netting a career best five three-pointers. In the win over Cazenovia on Saturday, he tallied a career best 26 points, hitting 4-of-7 three’s and shooting 8-for-11 from the free throw line.

On the week he averaged 22.5 points and 9.5 boards for the Mustangs.

An accounting major at Morrisville State College, Gordon is a 2007 graduate of Riverhead High School. He is the son of Maria Bailey and Ted Gordon of Riverhead, New York.

Morrisville State College offers more than 80 bachelor and associate degrees and options. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine.

The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus offers associate degree programs in accounting, business, computer systems technology, office administration, liberal arts transfer, nursing, early childhood, criminal justice and human services to south central New York residents and employers. Students may also apply coursework to other associate or bachelor degrees at the main campus.
