Harrisburg women net 56-37 win over Morrisville State

HARRISBURG, PA – Penn State Harrisburg women’s basketball held visiting Morrisville State College to just 18 percent shooting from the floor in the second half and caused 11 turnovers as they ran away with the 56-37 victory Saturday afternoon in Harrisburg.

Harrisburg led 25-21 at the half, before opening the second with 15-1 run over the opening five minutes of the period.

Harrisburg’s Stephanie Yetter led all scorers with 16 points, adding 13 rebounds for the double-double performance, as teammate Nicola Zangari added 12 points and a game high 18 boards to the Nittany Lion tallies. Dorothea Dixon added 11 points in the win.

Thelma Picardo (Queens, NY) netted 13 points for Morrisville State as Irena Longworth (Galway, NY) chipped in eight points and nine rebounds in the loss.

Morrisville State (3-13) returns to the court tomorrow afternoon at Wilson College.

Morrisville State College offers more than 80 bachelor and associate degrees and options. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine.

The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus offers associate degree programs in accounting, business, computer systems technology, office administration, liberal arts transfer, nursing, early childhood, criminal justice and human services to south central New York residents and employers. Students may also apply coursework to other associate or bachelor degrees at the main campus.
