Hanson named NEAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has recently announced its student-athlete of the week selections, naming Morrisville State College’s Tekesha Hanson (Queens, NY) the Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending February 21, 2010.

Hanson, senior guard, led the Mustangs to a 1-2 record over NEAC opponents this week. She finished the week with a total 70 points (23.3 per game), 28 rebounds (9.3 per game), 10 steals, five assists and five blocks. Hanson also went 14-for-29 from beyond the arc, hitting .483 percent of three’s attempted.

In the win over Wilson on Friday, Hanson tallied a career high 38 points, hitting a collegiate best seven three-pointers.

Hanson currently leads the team in scoring (16.3 points per game) and rebounding (8.1 per game) and has tallied a team high 40 three’s this season.

The 2005 graduate of John Bowne High School is majoring in journalism at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Novelette Hickling and Jean Claude of Queens, New York.

Morrisville State College offers more than 80 bachelor and associate degrees and options. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine.

The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus offers associate degree programs in accounting, business, computer systems technology, office administration, liberal arts transfer, nursing, early childhood, criminal justice and human services to south central New York residents and employers. Students may also apply coursework to other associate or bachelor degrees at the main campus.
