College to Host Kentucky Derby Celebration at the Copper Turret

MORRISVILLE, N.Y.Morrisville State College will host its first-ever Kentucky Derby celebration on May 6 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the tavern at the Copper Turret restaurant. The celebration is free and open to the public.

Special honoree will be Morrisville alumnus and Kentucky Derby contender, Sharp Humor, a three-year-old thoroughbred who spent three months being pre-trained at the college.

Party goers will have the opportunity to watch the race on a large screen television and root for their favorite horse and jockey. Complimentary light appetizers and drink specials, including mint juleps and an original Sharp Humor cocktail, will be offered.

Prizes will be awarded to those who pick the correct horses to win, place and show. In the long tradition of the Kentucky Derby, ladies are encouraged to wear hats; awards will be given out in several categories, including Best Looking, Best Morrisville Theme and Most Creative.
