Mustang softball drops 8-0 to Pikeville

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College women’s softball team recorded their second loss of the season, dropping 8-0 to Pikeville College in five innings at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Morrisville State drops to 2-2 overall.

Pikeville tallied five unanswered runs in the opening inning and added two others in fourth, before capping off the day with a final run in the fifth for the non-conference win.

Hanna Vinson (Logan, WV) led Pikeville from the plate, hitting 3-of-3, including a triple, as teammate Kayla Morgan (Independence, KY) added four RBI’s.

Whitney Compton (Bee, VA) threw the no-hitter, striking out six in five innings.

Amber Nichilo (Staten Island, NY) recorded the loss, throwing 4.2 innings and allowing 10 hits and eight runs. Nichilo had four strike outs.

Morrisville State returns to the field Wednesday, playing Cumberlands and Hilbert College.
