MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Visiting SUNY Brockport women’s basketball ignited early in the second half to outlast host Morrisville State College for a 58-45 non-conference victory Tuesday night in Morrisville.

The loss drops the Mustangs to 0-3 overall, while Brockport pulls even at 2-2.

Three netted double figures for Brockport, including Bree Fortney and Cecilia Sigrist who each tallied 13. Alexandra Marshall added 11 in the win for the Golden Eagles, also grabbing a team best 11 rebounds and dishing out three assists.

Nijee Scott (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Mustang efforts, recording 14 points and eight boards on the night, while teammate Courtney Coley (Bronx, N.Y.) added eight points and five rebounds.

Brockport led by as many as six in the first half before Morrisville State battled back to even the contest at 27 at the break.

A slow start by the Mustangs led to a 15-2 Brockport run behind pressure from the press over the first 10 minutes of the period, before the Mustangs offense came alive to cut the commanding lead to seven with just 2:45 to go on the clock.

Sigrist hit two free throws for the Golden Eagles with 2:30 to go to regain a nine point advantage and 44 seconds later converted a three-point play to extend the lead to 12 and seal the win.
