The Morrisville State College men's basketball team opened the 2010-2011 season campaign Monday night with a loss to visiting Clarkson University by a 78-67 final in Morrisville.
Morrisville State led by one with 9:40 to go in the first half before Clarkson went on a 14-2 run to take a 36-27 lead at the half.

Derek Matheson (Durham, ONT) put the Mustangs on the board late in the first period, netting a power play score with 52 seconds to go in the frame off an assist from Bobby Cass (Burlington, ONT) for the 1-0 lead.

The Morrisville State College athletic department has named western's Tawnee Collins (Evans Mills, NY) and ice hockey's Caylin Relkoff (Grand Forks, BC) its athletes of the week for the week ending November 7.
Collins, freshman rider, earned a first place finish in the novice western horsemanship class in both shows for the western equestrian team on Saturday, recording seven points in the team's double win.

The Norwich campus of Morrisville State College will hold its Annual Open House on Dec. 1, from 5-7 p.m. in Roger Follett Hall.
The festive, holiday event will feature hors d'oeuvres from area eateries and musical entertainment from the Norwich High School Jazz Band.

Morrisville State College posted 36.5 team points at the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational over the weekend, placing ninth, in Ithaca.
Ithaca won the invitational with 191 points, followed by Centenary with 175.5 and Cortland with 156.5. Johnson and Wales followed with 110 points, Springfield with 104, Oswego 103.5, Stevens 67, New York University 50, Morrisville 36.5, Western New England 35, and Norwich 32.

Morrisville State College senior netminder, Caylin Relkoff (Grand Forks, BC), has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Goalie of the Week for the week ending November 7.
Relkoff collected 79 saves and a .952 save percentage in two conference wins for the Mustangs over the weekend, as Morrisville State defeated Brockport and Geneseo.

The Morrisville State College western equestrian team posted 35 points in the morning and 32 in the afternoon to top the competition for high point team honors in the first two shows of the season Saturday at the riding arena in Morrisville.
Catherine Howland (Rutlandtown, VT) earned blue ribbons in the reining and open western horsemanship classes to earn high point rider honors for both shows.

The Mustangs will face familiar foe, fourth seed Keuka College, Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. in Keuka. Morrisville State will seek revenge on the Storm, who claimed the 1-0 overtime victory in the regular season finale for the Mustangs on October 26.

The Morrisville State College women's soccer team closed out the 2010 season with a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to host Alfred University Saturday afternoon in Alfred.
Alfred took a one goal lead 12 minutes into the contest, and nine minutes later Beth Fisher (Bolton Landing, NY) responded for the Mustangs to even the contest at one midway through the half.

The Highlanders' took the lead 15 minutes into the game, after Rachel Stefanski (Wallingford, CT) scored an unassisted goal into the open net. With four minutes remaining in the half, Jennifer Huyett (Stevens, PA) added another unassisted Highlanders' goal to make it 2-0.

The women's team finished fourth overall behind two top 20 finishes.
