Morrisville State western equine team concludes season at IHSA Nationals

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Morrisville State College western equestrian team concluded the 2007 season with a seventh place team finish Sunday at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championship show in West Springfield, Massachusetts.

In individual competition, beginner western horsemanship rider, Corey Hayes (Canton, NY) kicked off the Morrisville State team with a third place finish with Madison Cassidy (Nunda, NY) following with an eighth place finish in the intermediate western horsemanship class.

Jeremy Mimitz (Easthampton, MA) took sixth place in the novice western horsemanship class and Amber Tewell (Galoway, OH) placed ninth in advanced western horsemanship.

Amanda Corcoran (Hopewell Junction, NY) earned honorable mention honors in the intermediate western horsemanship class.

In team scoring, Corcoran, Charlie Goetz (Vernon, NY) and Ashley Kelkenberg (Akron, NY) each earned honorable mention honors in their respective classes while teammate Hayes took a fifth place finish in the AQHA intermediate horsemanship class.

Goetz also earned third in AQHA open reining while Corey Oldroyd (Montour Falls, NY) placed sixth in AQHA beginner horsemanship.

High point rider, Chrissy Ives (Bow, NH) finished 17th overall in the high point rider competition.
