Geneseo women record 48-39 victory over Morrisville State

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Visiting SUNY Geneseo women’s basketball recorded their ninth SUNYAC win Saturday afternoon, topping Morrisville State College 48-39 in Morrisville.

Kate Jaffie (Oneonta, NY) led all scorers with 16 points and Bridget Riley (Syracuse, NY) nine to pace the Geneseo Knights (11-11, 9-4 SUNYAC) in the win. Amanda Haney (Unadilla, NY) grabbed ten rebounds, six offensive, to lead Geneseo.

Morrisville State’s Sydney Pajack (Syracuse, NY) and Trisha Kaufmann (East Aurora, NY) each netted eight points to lead the Mustang efforts while teammate Ebony Whitfield (Benton Harbor, MI) grabbed 12 boards.

Geneseo led 27-16 at the half.

Morrisville State (0-17, 0-13 SUNYAC) returns to the court Tuesday at SUNY Plattsburgh.

Morrisville State enters its second year as a provisional member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III in 2007. Upon successful completion of the provisional period, Morrisville State will be a candidate for full accreditation as a member of the NCAA.

Morrisville State College offers more than 70 bachelor and associate degrees. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine. The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus also offers programs in business, technologies, liberal arts/education transfer, and nursing to Chenango County area residents and employers.
