Reference Services

The Reference Desk is located on the first floor of the Morrisville Campus Library and is staffed by librarians Monday through Wednesday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m., Thursdays 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Fridays 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., when classes are in session. Reference services can consist of one-on-one consultations with a librarian or group presentations.

Reference librarians assist the college community with locating and using a wide array of library resources such as electronic databases, special collections, print periodicals, open educational resources, and the library's book and electronic book collections. Librarians provide guidance on effective web searching to find authoritative open web information resources, and evaluate information for credibility and authority. Librarians also assist students by reviewing papers for proper attribution of works, citation usage, and formatting styles.

In addition to coming to the Library Reference Desk for assistance, library users may contact a reference librarian by phone (315.684.6055) or email library@morrisville.edu. During the hours when a SUNY Morrisville reference librarian is not available, or for remote access to a librarian, the library offers the Ask Us 24/7 chat service, which allows patrons to use an online chat tool to chat with a librarian in real time, anytime. Along with this chat service, the library also offers online tutorials and guides created by the SUNY Morrisville librarians to provide general reference guidance, as well as tailored guides for specifics subjects or classes.
