Corey M. Hayes

Corey M. Hayes is an Associate Professor of Agriculture Business Development at SUNY Morrisville, where he has taught since 2012. He specializes in agricultural business development, economics, marketing, and livestock management, with a strong emphasis on experiential learning and real-world application. Hayes holds a Master of Science in Education in Vocational Agriculture from the State University of New York at Oswego. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and two Associate in Applied Science degrees in Agriculture Business Management and Equine Science & Management from Morrisville State College.

Prior to joining the SUNY Morrisville faculty, Hayes served as an Agriculture Business Management Educator with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County. In that role, he worked extensively with dairy and livestock producers, providing education and consulting in business management, estate planning, risk management, farm transfer, and local food marketing. He played a key role in developing and implementing the Academy for Dairy Executives, a regionally focused professional development program designed to strengthen financial and managerial decision-making within the dairy industry.

At SUNY Morrisville, Hayes has taught a broad range of courses including Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business Development, Marketing of Agricultural Commodities and Products, Decision Making for Agricultural Managers, Horticulture Business Management, Live Animal Evaluation, Sheep Production, Introduction to Animal Science, and Domestic Animal Behavior. In addition to teaching, he has held several leadership positions, including Co-Interim Dean of the School of Agriculture, Business & Technology, Division Chair for Plant & Animal Science and Agricultural Business, and President of the College Senate.

Raised on a family dairy farm in Canton, New York, Hayes has deep personal and professional ties to the agricultural industry. He is the owner and operator of Emerald-View Farm, LLC in Munnsville, New York, where he manages multiple agricultural enterprises, including Emerald-View Southdown Sheep, Emerald-View Australian Shepherds, and a daylily display garden and hybridizing program. He is also a contributor to and program developer for the SUNY Morrisville Livestock Institute, an initiative he helped establish to reintroduce livestock to campus and expand hands-on learning opportunities within the curriculum.

Hayes remains actively engaged in the livestock and agricultural business sectors at the local, state, and national levels. His career reflects a sustained commitment to applied agricultural education, industry collaboration, and preparing students for leadership roles within a rapidly evolving agricultural economy.
