What furniture is included in my room?
Each residence hall room is furnished with a bed, a bedside pedestal (nightstand), a dresser, and a closet or wardrobe for clothing and storage.
Are single rooms available?
Yes. Housing options vary by residence hall and include single rooms, traditional double rooms, suite-style housing, and apartment-style living. Availability depends on the residence hall and room assignment process.
Yes. Single rooms are available in Cayuga Hall, West Hall, Oneida Hall, East Hall, South Hall, and Fountain View Hall. Availability is limited and assignments are made based on room availability and the housing selection process.
What support staff are available in the residence halls?
Each residence hall is supported by both Resident Assistants (RAs) and Area Coordinators (ACs). Resident Assistants are student leaders who live alongside residents and provide support, build community, and serve as a resource for campus life. Area Coordinators are full-time, live-in professional staff members who oversee the residence halls, support student success, and assist with more complex concerns or emergencies. How do I submit a work order for repairs?
Work orders can be submitted through QR codes that are posted in various locations on every floor in a residence hall.
What happens during residence hall inspections?
Health and Safety Inspections are conducted periodically throughout the semester to help ensure that residence hall rooms remain safe and in compliance with college policies. During an inspection, Residence Life staff will check for visible health and safety concerns, such as fire hazards, prohibited items, and room condition. Inspections are conducted using the plain-view doctrine, meaning staff will not search through drawers, closets, or other personal belongings.
Can I stay in the residence halls during breaks?
Some students may remain on campus during academic breaks if they have an approved need. Residence Life coordinates break housing and provides coverage for students who are approved to stay. Be sure to follow all break housing procedures and deadlines.
Is Wi-Fi available in-residence halls?
Yes. All residence halls are equipped with Mustang ResNet. Residents can connect by registering each device through the ResNet portal using their SUNY Morrisville credentials.
Can I receive mail and packages?
Yes. Paper mail and envelopes can be received in your residence hall and can be picked up in the RA office once delivered. Packages can be picked up in the campus mailroom inside the Campus Store once delivered.
What items are prohibited in residence halls?
Items that violate Residence Life policies or create a safety risk are prohibited in the residence halls. Common examples include alcohol, marijuana and other illegal drugs, weapons, firearms and ammunition, fireworks, candles, incense, Foreman grills, hotplates, and other open-heating cooking appliances. For a complete list of prohibited items, refer to the Housing Policy Agreement and Student Code of Conduct.
Can I change rooms or roommates?
Yes. Students experiencing roommate concerns should first work with their RA and Area Coordinator to resolve the issue. If a room change is appropriate, students must complete the Room Change Request Form. Non-emergency room changes are typically considered beginning three weeks after the semester starts through three weeks before it ends.
Are there laundry facilities in residence halls?
Yes. Laundry facilities are available in the residence halls, though the number and location of laundry rooms vary by building.
