New Student Orientation & Welcome Weekend

Kick-start your SUNY Morrisville college journey with an exciting new student orientation packed with interactive activities and invaluable connections! We are excited to begin this adventure toward academic success and lifelong friendships. 

Participation in New Student Orientation is mandatory for all new students.

Residential Student Move-In: Thursday, August 22, 2024

Morrisville Access Program (MAP) Scholars, ACE Scholars, and fall athletes will be notified of their move-in date and time separately.

Fall 2024 Check-in: What to Expect

Vehicles will enter campus onto Madison St. from Eaton St. and provide the student's name to the staff member greeting the vehicle:  

  • ✓  Students with all checklist items complete will be directed through the bus circle to the check-in tent.
    • The student will briefly exit their vehicle to pick up their welcome packet and photo ID card. Students living on campus will be directed to their residence hall drop-off point. 
  • Students with one or more outstanding checklist items will be directed to park their vehicle in Lot D and go into the Student Activities Building to complete all required items.
    • Once complete, the student will go to the check-in tent (star) to pick up their welcome packet and photo ID card. Students living on campus will be directed to their residence hall drop-off point. 

Residential Students:  ALL vehicles must have a GREEN pass to proceed to the residence hall drop off point. Students will take their green pass, welcome packet, and photo ID card to check into their residence hall where they will receive their dorm key and paperwork.

Commuter Students:  Vehicles will be directed to park so students can participate in New Student Orientation activities. A parking pass is not needed at this time.

New Student Orientation activities begin at 2:30PM on Thursday, Aug. 22 with the Mustang Mentor Meetup. 

Required Items to Complete for Move-In

Completion of ALL the below required items will ensure a "fast-pass" to move into the residence hall - grab your schedule and go. Failure to complete one or more of the below required items will require parking the car and seeing the appropriate office(s) before moving into the residence hall. 

  • Submit your official, final transcript(s) to the Admissions Office: high school, college, and/or AP/IB score report.
  • Complete all on-campus housing requirements and receive your housing assignment. 
  • Confirm your enrollment through Web for Students no later than Friday, Aug. 16, 2024. 
    • Once bills are released in mid-July, log into Web for Students -> go to Student Information & Financial Aid -> click on Student Account -> press Confirm Enrollment -> follow the prompts. 
    • Failure to confirm enrollment by Friday, Aug. 16 will result in the course schedule being dropped. 
  • Satisfy your fall 2024 semester bill by Friday, Aug. 16, 2024: complete all financial aid requirements (if applicable), enroll in a payment plan, or make payment in full. Refer to your Web for Students account. 
  • Submit the online photo upload form by Friday, Aug. 16 to receive your photo ID card upon arrival. 

Suggested Items to Complete for Move-In

  • Send in required medical forms and documentation to the Student Health Center. 
    • Students have 30 days from the start of classes to submit the required documentation. 
  • If you're bringing a car to campus, purchase a parking permit through Web for Students. For additional information on parking and traffic policies, including a campus parking map, please visit Parking Services.
    • Parking tags may be picked up at the University Police office in Brooks Hall. You must have vehicle registration and photo ID on you to pick up your parking permit.
  • Order textbooks and course materials online prior to the start of class. Textbooks can be shipped home or to the SUNY Morrisville Campus Store, but are not available for purchase at the on-campus store.

Mandatory Programming of the Day (beginning at 4:00PM)

  • Life on Campus - STUAC Theater. Student actors highlight potential real-life campus situations through various skits. A group discussion of campus support resources is included.
  • The P.U.S.H. to Success - Student Recreation Center. Jarod Benjamin shares a blueprint for success, emphasizing the core principles of Persistence, Understanding, Self-confidence, and Hard work (P.U.S.H.)
  • Residence Hall Meetings. Residential students only. Information will be provided when checking into the residence hall.

  • Program Meetings @ 9:30AM. Meet your program faculty and peers, learn about program expectations, and explore your new community. 
    • Locations based on academic major and will be provided in the final schedule. 
  • Welcome & Class Photo @ 11:00AM - Athletic Stadium. Grab your 2024 t-shirt and join us on the turf for a welcome from President David Rogers and a class photo. 
  • Mustang Mentor/Mentee Meetup @ 3:00PM. Meet back up with your Mustang Mentor and peer group for evening activities and programming. 
  • Confronting Ourselves: Promoting Diversity, Cultural Competence & Inclusive Excellence - Student Recreation Center. Derek Greenfield leads this powerful participatory session challenging students to examine their own biases and work together to learn and achieve inclusive excellence.

    • Basketball with University Police (UP). All are welcome to join University Police in a game of basketball or simply cheer on your classmates.

  • Classroom Tours @ 3:00PM - 5:00PM. Bring your schedule! Mustang Mentors will be walking around campus to show you where to find your classes. 
  • Sunday Funday with Student Affairs @ 3:00PM - 7:00PM - Administrative/STUAC Quad. Come and meet members of the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, Student Healthy Center, Student Activities, Student Affairs, Title IX, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and University Police. Make a personalized street sign, photo water bottles, photo pillowcases and get an airbrush tattoo. 
  • NCAA Football 25 Tournament @ 3:00PM - 7:00PM - STUAC Lobby. Test your skills on the sticks in an NCAA Football 25 tournament. First and second place will receive prizes. Games will be played on Xbox.
  • Paint Party @ 3:00PM - 7:00PM - STUAC Lobby. Come paint by number and add a special art piece to your room. 
  • Food Truck: Arizona Tacos @ 3:00PM - 7:00PM - Administrative/STUAC Quad. Check in and get your free ticket for a meal from Arizona Tacos. 
  • Free Money Game Show @ 5:00PM - STUAC Lobby. Test your trivia skills in this interactive game show. If you know the most trivia, you can win free money! Game show is live and questions can be answered on your phone.

Transportation from NYC to Campus

Megabus will have buses traveling to the SUNY Morrisville Campus from NYC Port Authority on Thursday, Aug. 22. Tickets are available for purchase online at megabus.com. Seating is limited.

Incoming students in need of transportation from Syracuse or Utica to campus on Thursday, Aug. 22 should send an email to max@morrisville.edu with their ticket information at least 7 days in advance. Transportation in this scenario is not guaranteed.
