The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its 2011-12 men's basketball end of the season award winners, naming Morrisville State College sophomore forward Mickey Davis (Jamesville, N.Y. / Jamesville-DeWitt) the NEAC Player of the Year.

The 6-foot-5 forward led Morrisville State and the conference in scoring this season, averaging 17.9 points per game, while adding averages of 6.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game for the Mustangs.

A threat both inside and from beyond the arc, Davis hit 46 from downtown, ranking eighth in the conference; while converting 176 shots from the floor to rank second in field goals recorded.

Davis scored in double figures in all but two contests on the season, highlighted by a career high 35 points that earned NEAC Player of the Week honors in December. He currently ranks 80th nationally in points per game.

Davis also earned NEAC All-Conference First Team honors.

The sophomore is a graduate of Jamesville-Dewitt High, and is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. He is the son of Margaret and Mickey Davis of Jamesville.

Morrisville State posted an NCAA best 17-8 record, and finished atop the conference with a 14-1 record, earning the overall top seed in the conference championship tournament this season, and the right to host the event.

Morrisville State will host the 2012 NEAC Championship Tournament Saturday, February 25 (semi-finals) and Sunday, February 26 (championship) in the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities Gymnasium. Penn State Harrisburg tips off against Wells College at 2 p.m. in the first semi on Saturday and the Mustangs follow against Penn State Berks in the second semi at 4 p.m.
