Morrisville State men's lacrosse to defend NEAC Championship Title Saturday

North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) top seed Morrisville State College men's lacrosse dominated visiting fourth seed Medaille College (5-9) by a 21-14 final in tournament semi-final action Wednesday afternoon in Morrisville, advancing to the NEAC Championship Title game Saturday.



Morrisville State (12-3) will face second seed Keuka College for the championship tournament title in Morrisville at 3 p.m. Keuka defeated Cobleskill 13-2 Wednesday in Keuka.



The Mustangs opened the game on fire, netting the first five goals of the contest, three from Adam Lewis (Painted Post, NY), before the Mavericks were able to sneak one into the back of the net to get on the board. Morrisville State closed out the quarter with three additional scores, leading Medaille 8-1 after the first.



In the second, Andrew Stein (Oswego, NY) tallied a score just nine seconds in followed by Kevin Wilkerson (Nedrow, NY) just seven seconds later, to give Morrisville State the 10-1 lead. Midway through the quarter, Tyler Strassburg tallied the second Medaille goal, but Stein responded with two straight goals to regain a 10 goal advantage for the Mustangs with just over six minutes remaining in the half.



Brock Levick was able to pull the Mavericks to within eight, closing the half with two goals for Medaille.



Trading tallies in the third quarter, Morrisville State headed into the final stance with a 17-8 advantage.



Medaille attempted a comeback in the fourth quarter, netting four straight over the course of a two minute time span, but the deficit was too much as Morrisville State added four additional goals to its game tallies to secure the 21-14 victory.



Lewis led all scorers on the day, tying a collegiate best with eight goals, while Stein posted three goals and assisted another four. Wilkerson added three and assisted two, as Brandon Macera (Chittenango, NY) recorded two goals and assisted four.



Five additional Mustangs recorded points, including Thomas Owens (Cazenovia, NY), Dean Priest (Hinesburg, VT) and Mike McGinnis (Syracuse, NY) each with one goal and two assists.



Michael Hinchey (Lake Katrine, NY) recorded the win between the pipes, making 10 stops in 54:44 of play, while Tom Huber (West Islip, NY) closed out the final 5:16 in net for the Mustangs.



Levick led Medaille with seven goals and an assist, while Strassburg added four goals and two assists to the Maverick tallies.



Brian Roff saved 18 in the loss for Medaille, allowing 21 goals.
