Morrisville State women's lax cruise to 22-5 victory over SUNYIT

The Morrisville State College women's lacrosse team used an explosive first half en route to a 22-5 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over visiting SUNY IT Wednesday evening in Morrisville.



Morrisville State improves to 6-3 overall, and remains undefeated in conference play at 4-0, while the Wildcats drop to 2-8 overall, 2-2 in NEAC action.



Shelby Wood (Duanesburg, N.Y.) led the Morrisville State charge with six goals and two assists, while Jamie Anderson (Harpursville, N.Y.) added four scores. Erin Rundle (Marathon, N.Y.) and Hillary Hartnett (Fairport, N.Y.) each posted three goals, while Rundle assisted two others. Four additional Mustangs tallied goals on the day, including Alison Falkenburgh (Bayport, N.Y.) who posted two to go along with two assists.



Danielle Puzio (Holbrook, N.Y.) recorded the win, saving six.



Amanda Bohne (Clay, N.Y.) and Veronica Metz (Morrisville, N.Y.) were the two lone Wildcats to find the back of the net, netting three and two goals, respectively.



Aubrey Campbell (Auburn, N.Y.) registered 16 saves in the loss for SUNYIT, including 13 in the first half, as Morrisville State held the 45-19 advantage in shots for the contest.



The Mustangs dominated the draw control battle, as Anderson and Wood each came up with seven as Morrisville State won 21-of-29 on the night.



Morrisville State held the 27-18 advantage in ground balls, while forcing SUNYIT to commit 26 turnovers.



The Mustangs raced out to an early 3-0 lead after the first seven minutes of the contest, and held the eight goal advantage until the Wildcats mustered a score on a free position. Seven additional tallies, including four within a two minute time span, by Morrisville State led to a 15-1 lead at the break.



In the second, SUNYIT attempted to post a comeback, but Morrisville State added seven additional scores and limited the Wildcats to just four, as they collected the conference victory.



Morrisville State returns to the field Saturday, traveling to Lancaster Bible, before meeting Wilson College on Sunday in Pennsylvania.
