Priest leads Morrisville State men in 16-5 win over SUNY IT

Junior midfielder Dean Priest (Hinesburg, Vt.) posted a collegiate best three goals and six assists, leading Morrisville State College men's lacrosse to a 16-5 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over host SUNY IT Tuesday night in Marcy.



Morrisville State improves to 7-3 overall and remains undefeated in conference play at 4-0. SUNY IT drops to 0-9 overall, 0-4 in NEAC action.



Priest added two ground balls to his tallies along with a caused turnover, while teammate Devin Maxwell (Culver City, Cali.) added four goals. Jack Martocello (Miller Place, N.Y.) added three scores while Jeremy Beresovoy (Jamesville, N.Y.) added two, assisting one. Four additional Mustangs added one goal each, including Mike Kellogg (Pawling, N.Y.) who had a team high eight ground balls in the contest.



Morrisville State's Michael Hinchey (Lake Katrine, N.Y.) recorded the win between the pipes, making eight stops as Morrisville State held the 48-17 advantage in shots.



Kevin Gardrvits and Tyler Serva each posted two goals for the Wildcats, while Andre Shattell recorded the loss in net, saving 15.



Morrisville State opened the contest with a five goal first quarter, as Priest connected with Beresovoy, Martocello and Andrew Stein (Oswego, N.Y.) before adding one of his own to give the Mustangs the 5-0 advantage after one.



In the second, Morrisville State added two quick tallies to claim the seven goal lead, including the eventual game winning score by Priest, and managed to get another past Shattell en route to the 8-2 advantage at the break.



Priest matched his first quarter tallies in the third quarter, adding another score and assisting three others for a collegiate best six assists, as Morrisville State took the nine goal lead into the final frame.

Morrisville State added three more scores in the final quarter, claiming the 16-5 conference win over the Wildcats.



The Mustangs won the ground ball battle 39-31 and forced 30 SUNY IT turnovers, but were held to just nine face-off victories for the contest.



Morrisville State returns to the field Wednesday, April 18, hosting Penn State Abington at 4 p.m. on Drake Field.
