Welcome to Commencement at SUNY Morrisville!

The 2018 SUNY Morrisville Commencement ceremony is almost here, and you worked hard to earn this moment. Long days, sleepless nights and endless Google searches. Now that the big day is approaching faster than one of our beautiful racehorses, please be sure to review the steps below in preparation for commencement, before you take those proud steps across the stage.

Preparing for Commencement

Initial Steps

You should first meet with your advisor to verify eligibility for graduation.

If you are eligible and plan to participate in the commencement ceremony, login to Web for Students and select the “Student Information & Financial Aid” tab, then the “Participation in Commencement” link, second from the bottom, to fill out the form. 

Order Your Cap and Gown

Purchase your cap & gown at the Campus Store or by using the Campus Store website

Get Tickets

All graduates will receive four (4) commencement tickets to accommodate family members or guests. Tickets will be provided to you when picking up your gap and gown. Tickets are required for entry to the ceremony.


If you have friends or family traveling to the area for the ceremony, be sure to secure lodging at one of the many excellent options available near campus. Please visit the Madison County Tourism website for a list of places to stay during your visit.


The college-run Copper Turret Restaurant & Brewhouse is accepting reservations for commencement weekend. Space is limited, so be sure to make advanced reservations by calling 315.684.6699.

Be sure keep in an eye out for the Student Digest delivered to your email to receive frequent commencement updates.



The ceremony will be held indoors in the SUNY Morrisville Recreation Center.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m

For the safety of everyone attending the ceremony, all bags will be checked upon entry to the Recreation Center. 

Bottled water and single-stem roses will be available for purchase outside of the Recreation Center prior to the ceremony. Proceeds will benefit The Children’s Center at Morrisville State College. 


Most campus parking lots are available for visitor parking on commencement day. New York State University Police will assist visitors with parking. 

Continuous shuttle service will also be provided from the A Lot to the ceremony site.

Guest Seating

Tickets are required for entry to the ceremony.

Accessibility seating sections will also be available at all locations. Please check with ushers at the ceremony site if you require specific assistance.

Viewing Locations

Closed-circuit television viewing of the ceremony will be available at a number of locations on the campus, where unlimited additional family members and guests may comfortably view the proceedings. No tickets are required at the viewing locations, which are listed below.

The ceremony is estimated to last approximately 2 1/2 hours.


Photo with Mustang Statue

As has become tradition for many graduating classes, be sure to take a photo in front of the Mustang Statue! The statue, which has become integral to Morrisville pride, is located in Administrative Quad found in front of the Whipple Administration Building.

You worked hard for your diploma, so why not show it off in a beautiful frame? You can find numerous frame options and much more at the SUNY Morrisville Campus Store, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. commencement day.
