Visiting Alfred University men's soccer posted a 3-0 lead at the half and added one more in the second to claim the 4-2 non-conference victory over host Morrisville State College Wednesday afternoon in Morrisville.

Alfred's Rigel Johnson (Little Valley, N.Y.) put the Saxons on the board early, scoring an unassisted goal just under five minutes into the contest with a shot inside the left post.

Frankie Mannino (Elmira, N.Y.) scored the Saxons second goal, as he broke away from the defender and beat Morrisville's goalkeeper Shane Sullivan (Sherrill, N.Y.) one on one. Not long after Jeffery Thomas (Canandaigua, N.Y.) added Alfred's third goal with a deflection off of a corner kick from Ian Healey (Orange Village, O.H.) to put the Saxons ahead 3-0 29 minutes into the game.

The Mustangs fought back in the second half, with Gilroy Alvarez (Guatemala) scoring two to bring them within one goal. Alvarez first took advantage of a misplayed ball by Saxon's keeper Samuel Guy (Binghamton, N.Y.) with the assist going to Chernor Barrie (Bronx, N.Y.). His second goal of the contest came off a pass from Joey Plummer (Gates, N.Y.) that he placed in the far post with just over 20 minutes left to play.

Alfred University stole the momentum back from the Mustangs with under 10 minutes left in regulation, putting them up 4-2. The Saxons final goal was tallied by Jeffery Thomas who placed a shot past Sullivan off a pass from Tony Gai (Burke, V.A.).

Sullivan recorded the loss for the Mustangs, making eight saves in 90 minutes of play.

Jacob Bird (Auburn, N.Y.) and Samuel Guy split time for the Saxons, recording nine and one save respectively.

Morrisville State (0-3-1 overall, 0-0-1 NEAC) returns to the field for conference play Saturday at SUNY IT.
