Blue Devils notch 5-2 victory over Morrisville State hockey

Host Fredonia State Blue Devils scored three unanswered goals in the second period to notch the 5-2 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory over visiting Morrisville State College Friday night in Fredonia.



Morrisville State drops to 3-15-1 overall, 2-8-1 in conference play.



The Mustangs held the 1-0 lead after the first period, as Curtis Renaud (Carlisle, Ontario) put his sixth tally of the season in the back of the net 14:19 in. Ivan Oliiynk (Kiev, Ukraine) and Chad Bryan (Palm Harbor, Fla.) were credited with the assists.



In the second, Fredonia posted three unanswered tallies, two on the power play, to take the 3-1 lead heading into the final period.



Renaud was able to cut the Blue Devil lead to one with his second score of the night just 6:33 in, but Fredonia quickly regained the two goal advantage 46 seconds later. Tom Longland (Dunnville, Ontario) and Daniel Morello (Vaughan, Ontario) assisted Renaud's score.



An empty net score at 19:01 put the game away for Fredonia.



Christopher Azzano (Oshawa, Ontario) recorded the loss between the pipes, making 26 stops for the Mustangs.



Mark Friesen had 22 saves in net for Fredonia on their Pink the Rink night.



Morrisville State returns to the ice tomorrow at Buffalo State College.
