Brockport powers past Morrisville State field hockey

Visiting SUNY Brockport field hockey netted three second half goals to power past host Morrisville State College Saturday afternoon in Morrisville.



Morrisville State drops to 0-6 overall, 0-3 in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action, while Brockport improves to 4-3 overall, 2-1 in conference play.



Brockport's Madison Buckley (Liverpool, NY) paced the Golden Eagles with three scores, including the first of the game just 3:20 in.



At 18:35 Morrisville State's Sarah Angerer (Cooperstown, NY) had a shot blocked that was collected and fired into the net by Rebecca Quackenbush (Barker, NY) for the game tying score.



Nicole Atkins (East Amherst, NY) put the Golden Eagles ahead by one at the break, chipping the ball over the head of Morrisville State keeper Laura Blumenfeld (Rockland, NY) on a penalty corner play.



In the second, Brockport's offense exploded for three tallies, the first in the 51st minute by Kelly-Ann Henry (Glen Head, NY) on a penalty stroke after Blumenfeld trapped the ball in the circle. Buckley then posted two straight in the final 10 minutes of the contest for the 5-1 final score.



Blumenfeld recorded seven saves in the loss for the Mustangs, as Brockport held the 21-15 advantage in shots.



Kasey Schreiner (Hamburg, NY) had the win in net for the Golden Eagles, saving five.



Morrisville State returns to the field Wednesday, hosting Hartwick College at 4 p.m. on Drake Field in Morrisville.
