Geneseo Ice Knights power past Mustangs, 4-1

Host SUNY Geneseo tallied three first period goals and added another in the second to hand visiting Morrisville State College ice hockey a 4-1 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) loss Saturday afternoon in Geneseo.



The Ice Knights stunned Morrisville State with their first score of the evening, as Carson Schell put one past Mustang netminder Caylin Relkoff (Grand Forks, BC) just 1:49 into the contest.



Jonathan Redlick added a second Geneseo score at 8:19, before David Arduin tallied a power play score in the 15th minute for the three goal advantage.



Arduin tallied his second of the day 6:15 into the second period, again on a power play opportunity, to give Geneseo the commanding 4-0 lead over the Mustangs.



Morrisville State was finally able to put one on the board with less than four minutes remaining in the second period, as Tom Longland (Dunnville, ONT) and Matt Salmon (Orillia, ONT) connected with Rob Sgarbossa (Campbellville, ONT) on the man advantage for the score.



Relkoff recorded the loss between the pipes, turning away 43 in the contest, as Morrisville State drops to 9-8-1 overall, 6-3-1 in SUNYAC action.



Cory Gershon posted 28 saves in the victory for Geneseo, as the Knights held the 47-29 advantage in shots on net.



Morrisville State returns to the ice Friday hosting SUNY Potsdam at 7 p.m. at the IcePlex. On Saturday they host SUNY Plattsburgh for the Saves For a Cure event.
