Hanks, Lucio lead Morrisville State men's hoops to 91-83 win over Canton

Sophomore Brandon Hanks (Syracuse, NY) netted a collegiate high 26 points and junior Andrew Lucio (Solvay, NY) added 20, as Morrisville State College men's basketball picked up a 91-83 non-conference victory over visiting SUNY Canton Tuesday night in Morrisville.



Morrisville State improves to 2-3 overall, while Canton drops to 4-2.



Four netted double figures for the Mustangs, led by Hanks who hit 5-of-11 from the field, three from behind the arc, and added 13 more from the free throw line, while collecting six rebounds on the night. Lucio hit a game best 6-of-9 from downtown, while pulling down a team high nine boards. Kucjok Ater (Syracuse, NY) added 12, as Mickey Davis (Jamesville, NY) rounded out top scorers with 11. Ater and Davis, along with Hodges Sneed (Syracuse, NY) dished out five assists a piece in the win.



Irving Cato led Canton with 20 points and 12 boards, while Scott Dixon added 12 nailing four from behind the arc. Woody Jules contributed 11 as teammates Benioko Harris and Ryan Lamica posted 10 each. Lamica also had nine assists on the night.



Morrisville State trailed 32-35 at the break and played a tight match with the Roos until going on an 11-4 run over a three minute span in the second half gaining an eight point advantage for much of the remainder of the period.



Irving cut the lead to six with 15 seconds to go, but Hanks secured the win for the Mustangs by hitting two free throws as time expired.



Morrisville State converted 27-of-35 free throws (77.1%) and shot 45 percent from the floor in the contest.



Morrisville State returns to the court Saturday, hosting Hartwick College at 3 p.m. in the STUAC Gymnasium.
