Hunt Seat third at Morrisville State show

The Morrisville State College hunt seat team finished the regular season Saturday, recording 35 team points to claim third place at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association invitational held in Morrisville.



Skidmore and Colgate topped the team competition with 39 team points to claim the show's top honors.



For the second straight show, Morrisville State had a rider earn reserve high point honors as Keely O'Hara (Cazenovia, N.Y.) claimed blue ribbons in both the open equitation over fences and open equitation on the flat classes. O'Hara also qualified for the regional championships in both classes, completing the regular season fifth overall out of 28 open riders in the year end standings.



Seven additional Mustang riders claimed top honors in their respective classes, including Lane Simonin (Tivoli, N.Y.), Jessica Gurda (Warwick Valley, N.Y.) and Bobbi Jean Carney (Hauppauge, N.Y.) in the novice equitation over fences class.



Kathryn Galyon (Pearl River, N.Y.) topped all riders in the novice equitation on the flat class, while Chelsea Hoole Shlakman (Huntington, N.Y.) took home the blue ribbon in the advanced walk trot canter class. Galyon also qualified for the regional championships in the novice flat class.



Cherie Shanley (Palenville, N.Y.) and Rebecca Hersey (Englewood, N.J.) each were first in the beginner walk trot canter class, respectively.



Morrisville State will return to the riding arena Saturday, March 31 at the IHSA Regional Championships held at Skidmore College.
