Hunt, Townsley lead Morrisville State cross country teams to 2nd place finish at Penn State Abington Invitational

Abington, P.A.­ – Sophomore Amanda Hunt (Tunkhannock, P.A.) and senior Austin Townsley (Horseheads, N.Y.) were top finishers for the Morrisville State College women’s and men’s cross country teams at the Penn State Abington Cross Country Invitational, Saturday in Abington.

Hunt finished 4th overall out of 54 runners with a time of 24:11 to lead the women’s team to a second place team finish. Celine Eppolito (North Collins, N.Y.) was the next Mustang to cross the finish line, placing 5th with a time of 25:11. Evelia Hehir (Washingtonville, N.Y.), Roxeanne Bailey (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Aurelie Joseph(Spring Valley, N.Y.) rounded out team scoring, finishing 7th, 28th and 34th respectively.

Townsley led the men’s team to a second place finish overall, crossing in 4th place with a time of 30:47. Anthony Ostuni (Liverpool, N.Y.) finished in 7th  with a time of 31:28 with Austin Hirsch (Morrisville, N.Y.), Shawn Okula (Medford, N.Y.) and Matthew Kennedy (Cooperstown, N.Y.) rounding out team scoring with 12th, 14th and 21st place finishes, respectively.

Morrisville State is next on the road at the Houghton Invitational on Saturday, September 22.
